A regular meeting
of the Collinsville Independent School District Board of Trustees was held on Monday,
August 20, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office,
The meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Darryl Carney.
Quorum was established with the following members present: Donita Byrom, Darryl Carney, Randy Adams, Larry Kittrell, and Justin McDonnell. Mindy Kerr and Johnny Lee Godsey was absent at this time. Others present were: Superintendent, Tim Wright; High School Principal, Cindy Brown, Primary Principal, Sheila Riddle, Technology Director and Intermediate Principal, Ken Kemp; Business Manager, Karen Shotwell, Athletic Director, Danny David and Mr. Hackett.
Invocation: The invocation was given by Donita Byrom.
Citizen Participation: There was no citizen participation.
Minutes: A motion was made by Darryl Carney and seconded by Donita Byrom to approve the minutes of the July 16, 2007, regular meeting. The motion carried 5-0.
Financial Review: Mr. Wright reviewed the finances with the Board.
Mindy Kerr is now present at 7:20 p.m.
Administrator’s Reports:
Danny David reported that football and volleyball have started and both teams are doing well so far.
Sheila Riddle reported that the primary building is ready for students to return and meet the teachers is from 6:00–7:30 p.m.
Ken Kemp said that the PTO has done a really good job decorating the buildings and the computers are all ready for the school year.
Cindy Brown reported on the discipline procedures for the coming year and TAKS scores.
Mrs. Gammon explained to the board about the four year plan that she is starting for all students.
Mr. Wright updated the Board on the progress of the clean up at the Primary building.
Student Handbook: A motion was made by Larry Kittrell and seconded by Randy Adams to approve the student handbook and student code of conduct for the 2007-08 school year. The motion carried 6-0.
Tax Rate: A motion was made by Larry Kittrell and seconded by Randy Adams to adopt the 2007-08 school year tax rate as $1.04 for M&O and .07 for I&S for a total tax rate of $1.11. The motion carried 6-0.
Update Policy FNA(LOCAL): I, Larry Kittrell move that the board add, revise, or delete (LOCAL) policies as recommended by the TASB POLICY SERVICE and according to the instruction sheet for TASB Localized Policy manual and the motion was seconded by Randy Adams. The motion carried 6-0.
Changes to EI(LOCAL): A motion was made by Larry and seconded by Mindy Kerr to adopt the changes made in board policy EI(LOCAL). The motion carried 6-0.
Resignations: A motion was made by Larry Kittrell and seconded by Mindy Kerr to accept the resignation of Erin Attaway. The motion carried 5-0.
Executive Session: The Board went into executive session at 8:15 p.m. for the purpose of personnel authorized by Section 550.074 of the Texas Government Code. The Board returned to regular session at 8:52 p.m. No action was taken at this time.
Employee Contracts: A motion was made by Darryl Carney and seconded by Randy Adams to hire Melissa Cummingham, Amanda Gray, Pricilla Green, and Russell Otto as teachers for the 2007-08 school year subject to the following: (1) assignment and reassignment; (2) state base salary plus local district supplement; (3) pending state funding; (4) plus other duties assigned by the administration. The motion carried 6-0.
Resignations: A motion was made by Randy Adams and seconded by Donita Byrom to accept the resignation of Stephen Riddle. The motion carried 6-0.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Darryl Carney and seconded by Randy Adams to adjourn at 9:01 p.m. The motion carried 6-0. The meeting was adjourned at 9:01 p.m. by Vice-President, Darryl Carney with six members present and Johnny Lee Godsey was absent. There were no objections.
