A regular meeting
of the Collinsville Independent School District Board of Trustees was held on Monday,
May 21, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office,
The meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Darryl Carney.
Quorum was established with the following members present: Donita Byrom, Darryl Carney, Randy Adams, Larry Kittrell, Mindy Kerr and Johnny Lee Godsey. Grady Fails was absent at this time. Others present were: Superintendent, Tim Wright; Business Manager, Karen Shotwell; High School Principal and Technology Director, Ken Kemp; Elementary Principal, Cindy Brown; Justin McDonnell, Jay Jones, David and Brenda Kinsey and Athletic Director, Danny David.
Invocation: Invocation was given by Johnny Lee Godsey.
Citizen Participation: There was no citizen participation.
Minutes: A motion was made by Randy Adams and seconded by Donita Byrom to approve the minutes of the April 16, 2007, regular meeting and the May 7special meeting. The motion carried 6-0.
Swearing in of New Trustee: Notary Karen Shotwell swore in Johnny Lee Godsey and Justin McDonnell as new School Board Trustees.
Reorganization of the Board: Mr. Wright asked the Vice-President to be allowed to conduct the meeting to reorganize the Board. Mr. Wright dissolved the Board officers and opened up the floor for recommendations for Board President. A motion was made by Larry Kittrell and seconded by Mindy Kerr to elect Johnny Lee Godsey as Board President.
A motion was made by Randy Adams to elect Darryl Carney as Board president. There was no seconded. Johnny Lee Godsey received four votes and Darryl Carney received 2 votes.
A motion was made by Mindy and seconded by Donita Byrom to elect Darryl Carney as Board Vice-President. The motion carried with five votes.
A motion was made by Donita Byrom and seconded by Johnny Lee Godsey to elect Larry Kittrell as Board Secretary. The motion carried with six votes.
Mr. Wright then turned the meeting over to Johnny Lee Godsey, the newly elected Board President.
Financial Review: Mr. Wright reviewed the finances with the Board.
Depository Bid: A motion was made by Larry Kittrell and seconded by Donita Byrom to approve the depository bid for the 2007-2009 school year as Independent Bank. The motion carried 7-0.
Executive Session: The Board went into executive session at 7:16 p.m. for the purpose of personnel authorized by Section 550.074 of the Texas Government Code. The Board returned to regular session at 8:00 p.m. No action was taken at this time.
Resignations: A motion was made by Donita Byrom and seconded by Darryl Carney to accept the resignations of Will and Lisa VanHooser. The motion carried 7-0.
Employee Contracts: A motion was made by Darryl Carney and seconded by Randy Adams to hire Torrey Price and Bobby Stastny as PE teachers and Coaches for the 2007-08 school year subject to the following: (1) assignment and reassignment; (2) state base salary plus local district supplement; (3) pending state funding; (4) plus other duties assigned by the administration. The motion carried 5-1-1.

Reports:
Danny David reported that all sports have ended and the students did well.
Mr. Kemp reported that the year has gone by and the seniors are ready to graduate.
Cindy Brown said that thing are winding down on her campus and overall it was a great year.
Mr. Wright discussed the budget time line with the Board and reminded them about the Foundation banquet Tuesday night. He also gave the Board some preliminary TAKS scores.
Jay Jones: Mr. Jones talked to the Board about MUD
districts in
Enrollment: Enrollment is 621 total with 284 in high school and 337 in elementary.
Mr. Wright’s Report: Mr. Wright discussed the budget time line with the Board. Consensus of the Board was to set June 4th for the Budget workshop. He also reminded the Board of the scholarship banquet Tuesday night. Graduation is at 2:00p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Wright discussed the preliminary TAKS scores with the Board.
Executive Session: The Board went into executive session at 8:49 p.m. for the purpose of personnel authorized by Section 550.074 of the Texas Government Code. The Board returned to regular session at 9:34 p.m. No action was taken at this time.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Johnny Lee Godsey and seconded by Mindy Kerr to adjourn at 9:36 p.m. The motion carried 7-0. The meeting was adjourned at 9:36p.m. by President, Johnny Lee Godsey with all seven members present. There were no objections.
