MARCH 20, 2006 REGULAR MEETING

 

A Regular Meeting of the Collinsville Independent School District Board of Trustees was held on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the library of the Collinsville Primary School, 502 Reeves Street, Collinsville, Texas.

The meeting was called to order by President, Grady Fails.

Quorum was established with the following members present: Darryl Carney, Sue Gilmer, Torrey Price, Johnny Lee Godsey, Ronnie Vannoy, Mindy Kerr and Grady Fails. Others present were: Superintendent, Dr. Wayne King; Business Manager, Karen Shotwell; High School Principal, Neal Harrison; Elementary Principal, Cindy Brown; Technology Director, Ken Kemp; AD, Danny David; Lisa VanHooser, Christie Hall, Coach Needham, Wendy Coulson, Kelcie Miller and Britany Rameriz.

Invocation: The invocation was given by Grady Fails.

Citizen Participation: There was no citizen participation at this time.

 

Minutes: A motion was made by Johnny Lee Godsey and seconded by Sue Gilmer to approve the minutes of the February 20, 2006 Regular Meeting. The motion carried 7-0.

 

Financial Review: A motion was made by Darryl Carney and seconded by Johnny Lee Godsey to approve the monthly expenditures. The motion carried 7-0.

 

District Enrollment: District enrollment is 575 total with 321 in Elementary and 254 in High School.

 

Administrative Reports:

 

Danny David passed out calendars with upcoming events to the Board. Coach Needham told the Board that Wendy Coulson, Kelcie Miller and Britany Rameriz got second place at state for powerlifting. The girls presented the trophy to the Board.

Ken Kemp reported that one of the drives on a server had failed but since the Board had allowed him to purchase good quality equipment that he could repair it fairly easy.

Cindy Brown reported that TAKS went very well with the third grade having 99% passing and the fifth grade having 100% passing. She also reported that the BAC moving across the street went well.

Neal Harrison reported about facility usage.

Dr. King discussed with the Board about facility usage and the school calendar for the 2006-07 school year. He also informed the Board of the candidates that have signed up for the May 13, 2006 election. They are as follows: Place 1 is Donita Byrom, Lonnie Basinger, and Robert Arthur; Place 4 is Torrey Price and Randy Adams; Place 5 is Jim Barnes and Larry Kittrell.

 

Executive Session: The Board entered into executive session at 8:40 p.m. for the purpose of personnel authorized by section 550.074 of the Texas Government Code. The Board returned to regular session at 9:35 p.m. No action was taken at this time.

 

Personnel: A motion was made by Ronnie Vannoy and seconded by Darryl Carney to accept the recommendation of the Elementary Principal for employment as listed, see attached list for the 2006-07 school year, subject to the following: (1) assignment and reassignment; (2) state base salary plus local district supplement; (3) pending state funding. The motion carried 7-0.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personnel: A motion was made by Johnny Lee Godsey and seconded by Ronnie Vannoy to approve the recommendation of the Athletic Director for the non renewal of a coaching/teaching contract, see attached recommendation for the 2006-2007 school year. The motion carried 7-0.

 

Personnel: A motion was made by Darryl Carney and seconded by Sue Gilmer to accept the recommendation of the High School Principal for employment as listed, see attached list for the 2006-07 school year, subject to the following: (1) assignment and reassignment; (2) state base salary plus local district supplement; (3) pending state funding. The motion carried 7-0.

 

Resignations: A motion was made by Ronnie Vannoy and seconded by Johnny Lee Godsey to accept resignations as presented. The motion carried 6-0.

 

 

Adjourn: A motion was made by Johnny Lee Godsey and seconded by Ronnie Vannoy to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 9:49 p.m. by President Grady Fails with all members presen.
